Base Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Hibiscus Tea

In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Add the dried hibiscus flowers, reduce heat, and let simmer for about 15 minutes. Remove from heat, strain, and let it cool down completely.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Prickly Pear

While the hibiscus tea is cooling, peel and dice the prickly pear. Be cautious and wear gloves, as the skin can be prickly. Set aside in a small bowl.

Mixing the Drink

  1. 3

    Combine Ingredients

In a cocktail shaker, add the cooled hibiscus tea (about 4 oz), Patron Reposado mezcal, diced prickly pear, fresh lime juice, and agave syrup.

  2. 4

    Shake Well

Fill the shaker with ice. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until well chilled.

  3. 5

    Strain and Serve

Strain the mixture into a chilled glass filled with ice.

Garnishing

  1. 6

    Add Garnishes

Garnish the drink with a lime wedge, a tablespoon of diced prickly pear, and a hibiscus flower on top for an elegant presentation.
