Method
Preparing Tortilla Chips
- 1
Cut Tortillas
Cut each corn tortilla into 6 wedges to create chips.
- 2
Heat Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 3
Fry Chips
Carefully add a batch of tortilla wedges to the hot oil, frying until they are golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 4
Season Chips
While still warm, sprinkle the fried tortilla chips with salt to taste.
Assembling Nachos
- 5
Layer Chips
On a large serving platter or baking sheet, spread out the tortilla chips in an even layer.
- 6
Add Cheese
Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the chips.
- 7
Add Jalapeños
Distribute the sliced jalapeños over the cheese-covered chips.
- 8
Melt Cheese
Place the assembled nachos in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted.
- 9
Garnish and Serve
Remove from the oven and top with sour cream, guacamole, and fresh cilantro if desired. Serve immediately while hot.
