Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Vegetables

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced onion and cook until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes. Then, add the sliced mushrooms and cook for an additional 5 minutes, or until they are tender. Season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Remove from skillet and set aside.

Cooking

  1. 2

    Cook the Impossible Meat

In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil and increase the heat to medium-high. Add the Impossible Burger, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until browned, stirring occasionally. Ensure it is cooked thoroughly.

  2. 3

    Combine and Melt the Cheese

Return the sautéed onions and mushrooms to the skillet with the cooked Impossible meat. Stir to combine. Layer the white American cheese slices on top of the mixture and cover the skillet. Allow the cheese to melt for about 2-3 minutes.

Assembly

  1. 4

    Assemble the Sandwich

Split the hoagie rolls lengthwise without cutting all the way through. Spoon the cheesy mixture of Impossible meat, onions, and mushrooms into each roll. Serve immediately while hot.
