Churro Dough

Sugar Coating

Method

Churro Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Boil the Mixture

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter, 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

    Add Flour

Once the mixture is boiling, remove it from heat and stir in 1 cup of all-purpose flour until mixed thoroughly.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Eggs

Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then add 2 large eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and well combined.

Frying the Churros

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat 4 cups of vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Pipe the Dough

Transfer the churro dough into a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe 4-6 inch long strips of dough directly into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan.

  3. 6

    Fry Until Golden

Fry the churros for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Remove them from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Sugar Coating

  1. 7

    Mix Sugar and Cinnamon

In a shallow dish, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar and 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon.

  2. 8

    Coat the Churros

While the churros are still warm, roll them in the sugar-cinnamon mixture until fully coated.

Chocolate Sauce Preparation

  1. 9

    Heat the Cream

In a small saucepan, heat 1 cup of heavy cream over medium heat until it begins to simmer.

  2. 10

    Melt the Chocolate

Remove the saucepan from heat and add 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips. Stir until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth. Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and mix well.
