Method
Meatballs Preparation
Mix Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, eggs, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.
Form Meatballs
Using your hands, form the mixture into meatballs about 1.5 inches in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake Meatballs
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the meatballs in the oven for 20-25 minutes or until they are cooked through and browned.
Marinara Sauce Preparation
Simmer Sauce
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Combining and Serving
Combine Meatballs and Sauce
Once the meatballs are cooked, carefully add them to the marinara sauce. Let them simmer in the sauce for an additional 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
Prepare for Serving
To serve, place the baked rolls on a platter. Use tongs to transfer the meatballs to a serving dish, and top with slices of provolone cheese and grated Romano cheese.
Serve
Allow guests to build their own meatball sandwiches using the rolls and toppings. Enjoy!
