Method

Brownie Layer Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.

  2. 2

    Melt Butter

In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt 1 cup of unsalted butter. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

  3. 3

    Mix Sugars and Eggs

Stir in 1 cup of granulated sugar and 1 cup of brown sugar into the melted butter until well combined. Add 4 large eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then add 2 tsp of vanilla extract.

  4. 4

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder, and 1 tsp of salt.

  5. 5

    Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in 1 cup of chocolate chips.

  6. 6

    Spread in Pan

Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.

  1. 7

In a large mixing bowl, beat together 1 cup of unsalted butter, 3/4 cup of granulated sugar, and 1 cup of brown sugar until light and fluffy.

  2. 8

Add 2 large eggs and 2 tsp of vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture, and mix until well incorporated.

  3. 9

In another bowl, whisk together 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 tsp of baking soda, and 1 tsp of salt.

  4. 10

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in 2 cups of chocolate chips.

  5. 11

Spread the cookie dough over the brownie layer in the baking pan evenly.

Baking

  1. 12

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

  2. 13

    Cool

Remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before slicing into squares.
