Method
Preparing the Beef
- 1
Sear the Wagyu Beef
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Season the American Wagyu beef with salt and black pepper. Sear the beef for about 3-4 minutes on each side until a crust forms and the interior reaches your desired doneness (medium rare is recommended).
- 2
Rest the Beef
Remove the beef from the skillet and let it rest for at least 10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute within the meat.
Making the Au Jus
- 3
- 4
Prepare the Broth
Add the beef broth, thyme, and Worcestershire sauce to the skillet. Bring to a simmer and let it cook for about 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Season with salt to taste.
Assembling the Sandwich
- 5
Slice the Beef
After resting, slice the Wagyu beef thinly against the grain.
- 6
Prepare the Rolls
Slice the French rolls in half and spread mayonnaise on the inside of each half.
- 7
Add Cheese and Beef
Layer the sliced Wagyu beef on the bottom half of each roll, then top with 2 slices of Swiss cheese.
Final Touches
- 8
Melt the Cheese
Place the assembled sandwiches under a broiler for 1-2 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- 9
Serve with Au Jus
Serve the sandwiches hot alongside a bowl of warm au jus for dipping. Enjoy!
