Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Proteins

Choose your protein: chicken, steak, or shrimp. If using chicken or steak, slice them into thin strips. For shrimp, ensure they are peeled and deveined.

  2. 2

    Chop the Vegetables

Slice the bell peppers and onion into thin strips. Mince the garlic cloves.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Cook the Proteins

In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add your chosen protein and cook until golden brown and fully cooked (about 5-7 minutes for chicken and steak; 3-5 minutes for shrimp). Season with salt, pepper, chili powder, cumin, and paprika.

  2. 4

    Sauté the Vegetables

Remove the cooked protein from the skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, add the remaining olive oil and sauté the sliced bell peppers, onion, and minced garlic until they are softened and slightly charred (about 5-7 minutes).

  3. 5

    Combine and Heat Through

Add the cooked protein back into the skillet with the sautéed vegetables. Stir to combine and heat through for an additional 2-3 minutes.

Serving

  1. 6

    Assemble the Fajitas

Serve the sizzling hot mixture on warm flour tortillas. Offer optional toppings such as sour cream, guacamole, and salsa on the side.
