Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Preparing the Steak

Remove the rib-eye steak from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature for about 30 minutes. This ensures even cooking.

  2. 2

    Seasoning

Generously season both sides of the steak with salt and black pepper, pressing it into the meat to adhere.

  3. 3

    Searing the Steak

Heat olive oil in a cast iron skillet over high heat until it begins to smoke. Add the steak and sear for about 4-5 minutes on the first side, without moving it.

  4. 4

    Flipping and Adding Flavor

Flip the steak and add garlic cloves, rosemary, and butter to the pan. Cook for another 4-5 minutes, spooning the melted butter over the steak to baste it.

  5. 5

    Checking for Doneness

Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. For medium-rare, aim for 130°F (54°C). Adjust cooking time as necessary.

  6. 6

    Resting

Once done, remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest on a cutting board for about 10 minutes before slicing.

  7. 7

    Serving

Slice against the grain and serve with your choice of sides.
