Beef Tomahawk Steak

Method

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Preparation

Remove the beef tomahawk steak from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature for about 1 hour before cooking. Preheat your grill or oven to a high temperature (about 450°F/232°C).

  2. 2

    Seasoning

Pat the steak dry with paper towels. Generously season both sides of the steak with kosher salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Drizzle olive oil over the steak and rub it in to ensure an even coating.

  3. 3

    Grilling

Place the steak on the grill and sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side for a medium-rare finish. If using an oven, sear the steak in a hot cast-iron skillet for 4-5 minutes on each side, then transfer to the oven.

  4. 4

    Basting

During the last few minutes of cooking, add butter and fresh rosemary to the skillet (or spoon over the steak on the grill). Baste the steak with the melted butter and rosemary for added flavor.

  5. 5

    Resting

Remove the steak from the heat and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing. This helps retain the juices.

  6. 6

    Serving

Slice the steak against the grain and serve immediately. Enjoy your delicious beef tomahawk!
