Beef Tomahawk Ingredients

Method

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Remove the beef tomahawk steak from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 1 hour before cooking. This helps to ensure even cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Rub the steak with olive oil, then generously season both sides with kosher salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Make sure to coat it evenly.

  3. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Oven

Preheat your grill to high heat or your oven to 450°F (232°C). If using a grill, ensure the grates are clean and oiled.

  4. 4

    Sear the Steak

Place the steak on the grill or in the oven and sear it for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until a nice crust forms.

  5. 5

    Add Butter and Herbs

In the last 5 minutes of cooking, add the butter and fresh rosemary on top of the steak to baste it, enhancing the flavor.

  6. 6

    Check for Doneness

Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. For medium-rare, aim for 130-135°F (54-57°C). Adjust cooking time as necessary.

  7. 7

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked to your liking, remove the steak from the grill or oven and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.

  8. 8

    Slice and Serve

Slice the steak against the grain and serve with your choice of sides.
