Directions

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. 2

    Cook the Pasta

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and cook the ziti pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Cheese Mixture

In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, garlic, salt, black pepper, and half of the Parmesan cheese. Mix until smooth.

  4. 4

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

In a large bowl, combine cooked ziti, marinara sauce, and the cheese mixture. Mix well to combine.

  5. 5

    Layer the Ziti

In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spread half of the ziti mixture. Top with half of the mozzarella cheese. Add the remaining ziti mixture on top and finish with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.

  6. 6

    Bake

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

  7. 7

    Garnish and Serve

Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
