Method
Cheese Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Cheese Sticks
Take the mozzarella cheese sticks out of the packaging and set them aside. Make sure they are cold as this helps them hold their shape during frying.
Breading Process
- 2
Set Up the Breading Station
In three separate shallow bowls, prepare the breading station. In the first bowl, place the all-purpose flour. In the second bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk. In the third bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
- 3
Bread the Cheese Sticks
Take each mozzarella stick and coat it in the flour, shaking off any excess. Next, dip it into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off, and finally coat it with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere. Repeat for all cheese sticks.
Frying
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large, heavy-bottom pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping in a small piece of bread; it should sizzle immediately.
- 5
Fry the Mozzarella Sticks
Carefully add a few breaded mozzarella sticks to the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until they are golden brown, turning occasionally for even cooking.
- 6
Drain and Serve
Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried mozzarella sticks from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot with marinara sauce, ranch dressing, or your favorite dipping sauce.
