Method

Preparing the Turkey

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).

  2. 2

    Prepare the Turkey

Remove the turkey giblets from inside the turkey. Rinse the turkey under cold water and pat it dry with paper towels.

  3. 3

    Season the Turkey

Rub the entire turkey with olive oil, then season generously with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, rosemary, and sage. Make sure to get under the skin as well.

  4. 4

    Stuff the Turkey

If you are using stuffing, fill the cavity of the turkey with the prepared stuffing (see stuffing preparation below).

  5. 5

    Tie the Legs

Use kitchen twine to tie the legs together to keep the stuffing inside.

  6. 6

    Place in Roasting Pan

Place the turkey breast side up on a rack in a roasting pan.

  7. 7

    Add Butter

Melt the butter and drizzle it over the turkey.

  8. 8

    Roast the Turkey

Roast the turkey in the preheated oven, basting occasionally with the pan juices, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C), about 13-15 minutes per pound.

Preparing the Stuffing

  1. 9

    Sauté Vegetables

In a skillet, heat a little olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped celery and onion, and sauté until softened, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 10

    Combine Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the sautéed vegetables with breadcrumbs, chicken broth, beaten eggs, salt, black pepper, and thyme. Mix well until combined.

  3. 11

    Stuff the Turkey

Use the prepared stuffing to fill the cavity of the turkey, or bake separately in a casserole dish if preferred.
