Season the Pork
In a small bowl, combine paprika, brown sugar, cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well. Rub the spice mixture all over the pork shoulder.

Prepare the Onion and Garlic
Chop the yellow onion and mince the garlic cloves. Set aside.
Cooking

Sear the Pork
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the seasoned pork shoulder and sear each side until browned, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove from skillet and set aside.

Slow Cook the Pork
Transfer the sautéed onion and garlic to a slow cooker. Add the seared pork shoulder and pour in the chicken broth. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the pork is tender and easily shreds with a fork.

Shred the Pork
Once cooked, remove the pork shoulder from the slow cooker and place it on a cutting board. Use two forks to shred the meat into pieces.

Serve the pulled pork warm, drizzled with BBQ sauce and enjoy!
