Potatoes

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into thin slices, about 1/4 inch thick. Rinse the cut potatoes in cold water to remove excess starch, then soak them in water for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Dry the Potatoes

After soaking, drain the potatoes and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel. Make sure they are as dry as possible to achieve crispiness.

Frying

  1. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep saucepan or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to ensure the oil is at the right temperature for frying.

  2. 4

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add the dried potato slices in batches to the hot oil. Fry them for about 4-5 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy. Do not overcrowd the pot.

  3. 5

    Drain the Fries

Once cooked, remove the fries from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Seasoning

  1. 6

    Season the Fries

While the fries are still hot, sprinkle them with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Toss them gently to ensure even coating.
