Toast Rice
Add the long-grain rice to the saucepan and stir well to coat the rice with the oil, onion, and garlic mixture. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the rice is slightly toasted.

Add Liquids and Spices
Pour in the tomato sauce and vegetable broth. Add the cumin, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.

Cook Rice
Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for 18-20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed.

Fluff and Set Aside
Once cooked, fluff the rice with a fork and set aside covered to keep warm.
Charro Beans Preparation

Cook Bacon
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Remove the bacon and drain on paper towels, leaving the rendered fat in the skillet.

Add Beans and Seasonings
Stir in the cooked pinto beans, diced tomato, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Finish with Bacon and Cilantro
Add the cooked bacon and chopped cilantro to the beans, stir to combine, and cook for an additional 2 minutes.

Prepare Bowls
In serving bowls, start by adding a base of cooked Spanish rice, followed by a generous portion of charro beans.

Top each bowl with the cooked protein of your choice, followed by shredded cheese, sour cream, guacamole, salsa, chopped lettuce, and chopped tomatoes.
