Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 2

    Cook the Bacon

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon slices until crispy. Remove and chop into small pieces, leaving the rendered fat in the skillet.

  3. 3

    Sauté Onion and Garlic

In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the bacon fat. Sauté until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.

Combining Ingredients

  1. 4

    Mix the Beans

In a large mixing bowl, combine the drained navy beans and kidney beans with the sautéed onion and garlic.

  2. 5

    Add Bacon and Seasonings

Add the chopped bacon, brown sugar, molasses, ketchup, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika to the beans. Stir well to combine.

  3. 6

    Add Chicken Broth

Pour in the chicken broth and mix until well incorporated.

Baking

  1. 7

    Transfer to Baking Dish

Transfer the bean mixture to a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.

  2. 8

    Bake in the Oven

Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the beans are bubbly and slightly caramelized on top.

Serving

  1. 9

    Let Cool and Serve

Allow the baked beans to cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your hearty baked beans!
