Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Take the ribeye steak out of the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This helps it cook evenly.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Pat the ribeye steak dry with paper towels. Generously season both sides of the steak with salt and black pepper, ensuring an even coating.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Preheat the Pan

Heat a heavy skillet (cast iron preferred) over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes until it's hot but not smoking.

  2. 4

    Add Olive Oil

Add the olive oil to the hot skillet. Swirl the pan to evenly coat the bottom.

  3. 5

    Sear the Steak

Carefully place the ribeye steak in the skillet. Sear for about 4-5 minutes without moving it to develop a nice crust.

  4. 6

    Add Garlic and Rosemary

After 4-5 minutes, add the crushed garlic cloves and rosemary sprigs to the skillet. This will infuse the steak with flavor.

  5. 7

    Flip the Steak

Using tongs, flip the steak and cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare. Adjust the time to 6-7 minutes for medium, depending on your preference.

  6. 8

    Rest the Steak

Remove the ribeye steak from the skillet and place it on a cutting board. Let it rest for 5-10 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute.

Serving

  1. 9

    Slice and Serve

After resting, slice the steak against the grain and serve with your choice of sides. Enjoy!
