Method
Preparation
- 1
Measure Coffee Beans
Using a kitchen scale or measuring cup, measure out 0.5 cups of coffee beans. Choose between regular or decaf according to your preference.
- 2
Grind Coffee Beans
Grind the coffee beans to a coarse consistency using a coffee grinder. This is important for a French press to ensure the best flavor extraction.
Brewing
- 3
Boil Water
In a kettle, bring 16.5 cups of water to a boil. If you prefer a larger batch, use 33 ounces of water instead, adjusting the quantity of coffee beans accordingly.
- 4
Combine Coffee and Water
Once the water has boiled, let it cool for about 30 seconds to reach the ideal temperature (around 200°F or 93°C). Pour the hot water over the ground coffee in the French press.
- 5
Stir and Steep
Using a spoon, gently stir the mixture to ensure all the coffee grounds are saturated. Place the lid on the French press with the plunger pulled up and let it steep for about 4 minutes.
- 6
Press and Serve
After steeping, slowly press down the plunger to separate the grounds from the brewed coffee. Pour the coffee into your cup and enjoy!
