Pizza Dough and Toppings
Method
Preparation and Baking
- 1
Prepare the Dough
In a mixing bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy. Then stir in olive oil, salt, and half of the flour. Mix until combined, then gradually add remaining flour until a dough forms.
- 2
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 3
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) about 30 minutes before baking.
- 4
Shape the Pizza
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness. Transfer to a pizza stone or baking sheet.
- 5
Add Toppings
Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough. Tear the fresh mozzarella into pieces and distribute over the sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- 6
Bake the Pizza
Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.
- 7
Finish with Basil
Remove the pizza from the oven and immediately scatter fresh basil leaves on top. Drizzle with olive oil to taste.
- 8
Serve
Slice the pizza and serve hot.
