Prepare the Ingredients
Gather all the ingredients: Old Overholt Rye Whiskey, Fernet Branca, simple syrup, and bitters. If you don't have simple syrup, you can make it by mixing equal parts sugar and water until dissolved.

Chill Your Glass
Take a cocktail glass and fill it with ice water to chill while you prepare the drink.
Mixing the Drink

Combine Ingredients in Shaker
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, pour in 2 oz of Old Overholt Rye Whiskey, 0.5 oz of Fernet Branca, 0.25 oz of simple syrup, and 2 dashes of bitters.

Shake Well
Shake the cocktail shaker vigorously for about 15 seconds to ensure all ingredients are well mixed and chilled.

Strain into Glass
Empty the ice water from your chilled cocktail glass and strain the mixture from the shaker into the glass.
Garnishing

If desired, twist an orange peel over the drink to release its oils and drop it into the glass as a garnish.
