Prepare the Meatballs
In a large bowl, mix together ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, parsley, salt, and black pepper until well combined. Form mixture into 1-inch meatballs.

Heat the Marinara Sauce
In a separate saucepan, heat marinara sauce over medium heat until warmed through.

Assemble the Subs
Preheat your wood-fired oven or regular oven to 400°F (200°C). Slice French bread rolls in half and place a few meatballs on each roll. Spoon marinara sauce over the meatballs.

Add Cheese and Toast
Layer shredded mozzarella and sliced provolone on top of the marinara-covered meatballs. Place the assembled subs on a baking sheet and toast in the oven until the cheese is melted and bubbly, about 5-7 minutes.

Garnish and Serve
Remove from the oven, top with fresh basil leaves, and serve with chips on the side.
