Method

Prepare the Coffee

  1. 1

    Brew the Espresso

Brew 1 cup of strong espresso coffee. If you don’t have an espresso machine, you can use a stovetop Moka pot or a French press to make strong coffee.

  2. 2

    Sweeten the Coffee

Stir in 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar into the hot espresso until fully dissolved. Set aside to cool.

Prepare the Mascarpone Mixture

  1. 3

    Whisk Egg Yolks

In a mixing bowl, whisk together 4 egg yolks until they are pale and creamy.

  2. 4

    Combine Egg Yolks and Mascarpone

Add 500 grams of mascarpone cheese and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the egg yolks. Mix until smooth and well combined.

  3. 5

    Whip the Cream

In another bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream until stiff peaks form.

  4. 6

    Fold Cream into Mascarpone Mixture

Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well incorporated.

Assemble the Tiramisu

  1. 7

    Dip the Ladyfingers

Quickly dip each ladyfinger biscuit into the cooled espresso, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.

  2. 8

    Layer the Biscuits

Arrange a layer of dipped ladyfingers in the bottom of a rectangular dish.

  3. 9

    Add Mascarpone Mixture

Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the layer of ladyfingers.

  4. 10

    Repeat Layers

Add another layer of dipped ladyfingers and then top with the remaining mascarpone mixture.

  5. 11

    Chill the Tiramisu

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

Finish and Serve

  1. 12

    Dust with Cocoa

Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder using a fine sieve.

  2. 13

    Garnish

Add dark chocolate shavings on top for garnish.

  3. 14

    Slice and Serve

Cut into squares and serve chilled.
