Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- 2
Make the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
- 3
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
Let Dough Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Filling Preparation
- 5
Prepare the Filling
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness. Cut the dough into rectangles.
- 6
Add the Filling
Place a spoonful of shredded mozzarella cheese and a few slices of pepperoni in the center of each rectangle. Fold the dough over and seal the edges tightly.
Marinara Sauce Preparation
- 7
- 8
Combine Ingredients
Add the crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper to the saucepan. Simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened.
Cooking
- 9
Fry the Pizza Logs
In a deep fryer or a large pot, heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry the stuffed dough pieces until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- 10
Drain and Serve
Remove the pizza logs from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot with marinara sauce for dipping.
