Burger Patties

Method

Burger Patties

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef

In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef with salt and black pepper. Mix gently to season the beef without overworking it.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Divide the seasoned beef into two equal portions (4 oz each) and loosely form them into patties. Do not compact them too much.

Smash Sauce

  1. 3

    Make the Smash Sauce

In a bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, Dijon mustard, pickle relish, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix well until smooth and set aside.

Cooking and Assembling the Burger

  1. 4

    Heat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat until hot.

  2. 5

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the hot grill or skillet. Using a heavy spatula, smash each patty down firmly to flatten it. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until a crust forms.

  3. 6

    Add Cheese

Flip the patties, add a slice of cheese on each, and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the cheese melts.

  4. 7

    Toast the Buns

While the burgers are cooking, split the burger buns and toast them on the grill or in a separate skillet until golden brown.

  5. 8

    Assemble the Smashburger

Spread a generous amount of smash sauce on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Add the lettuce, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese, and top with sliced tomatoes. Place the top bun over the tomatoes.

  6. 9

    Serve

Serve immediately while hot, with extra smash sauce on the side if desired.
