Salad Preparation
- 1
Wash and Chop Romaine
Rinse the romaine lettuce under cold water to remove any dirt. Shake off excess water and chop the lettuce into bite-sized pieces.
- 2
Prepare Croutons
If using store-bought croutons, measure out 1 cup. If making homemade, cut bread into cubes, toss with olive oil and seasonings, and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 10-15 minutes until golden.
- 3
Grate Parmesan Cheese
Using a grater, shred the parmesan cheese into a bowl and set aside.
Dressing Preparation
- 4
Make Caesar Dressing
In a mixing bowl, combine mayonnaise, minced garlic cloves, anchovy fillets (mashed), lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, and olive oil. Whisk until smooth.
- 5
Season the Dressing
Add salt and black pepper to the dressing to taste, adjusting as desired.
Assembly
- 6
Combine Ingredients
In a large salad bowl, add the chopped romaine lettuce. Pour the prepared Caesar dressing over the lettuce.
- 7
Toss Salad
Gently toss the romaine with the dressing until evenly coated. Add croutons and grated parmesan cheese to the salad.
- 8
Serve
Serve the Caesar salad immediately, garnished with additional parmesan if desired.
