Chips
Queso Dip
Method
Chips
- 1
Prepare the tortillas
Cut each corn tortilla into 6 triangular pieces to form chips.
- 2
Heat the oil
In a large pot or deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 3
Fry the chips
Carefully add a batch of tortilla triangles to the hot oil. Fry for about 2-3 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove them from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Season with salt while still warm.
- 4
Repeat
Continue frying the remaining tortilla chips in batches until all are cooked. Keep the chips warm in a low oven while you prepare the queso dip.
Queso Dip
- 5
Melt the cheeses
In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine the Velveeta cheese and cream cheese, stirring occasionally until both are melted and smooth.
- 6
Add salsa
Stir in the salsa and mix until well combined. Allow the mixture to heat through for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 7
Add jalapeños
If desired, chop the jalapeños and add them to the queso dip, adjusting the quantity based on your preferred spice level.
- 8
Garnish
Once the queso dip is heated and well mixed, sprinkle cilantro on top for added flavor and freshness (optional).
- 9
Serve
Transfer the queso dip to a serving bowl and serve warm alongside the freshly made tortilla chips.
