Cake Preparation
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the cake.
- 2
Mix the Cake Batter
In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, eggs, water, and vegetable oil. Mix well according to the package instructions until the batter is smooth.
- 3
Bake the Cake
Pour the batter into two 9-inch round cake pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- 4
Cool the Cake
Once baked, allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove from pans and cool completely on a wire rack.
Assembly
- 5
Layer Ice Cream
Once the cakes are completely cooled, take one layer and spread a 1-quart layer of vanilla ice cream on top. Place the second cake layer on top of the ice cream.
- 6
Add Chocolate Ice Cream
Spread another layer of chocolate ice cream on top of the second cake layer. Use a spatula to smooth out the ice cream evenly.
- 7
Freeze the Cake
Cover the assembled cake with plastic wrap and freeze for at least 4 hours, or until firm.
Frosting and Decoration
- 8
Frost the Cake
Remove the cake from the freezer. Spread the whipped topping over the top and sides of the cake evenly.
- 9
Add Toppings
Drizzle chocolate syrup over the top of the frosted cake and sprinkle with rainbow sprinkles for decoration.
- 10
Slice and Serve
Slice the cake into wedges and serve immediately. Enjoy your homemade Carvel cake!
