Method
Pretzel Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
Mix Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Once the yeast mixture is frothy, pour it into the flour mixture along with melted unsalted butter. Mix until a dough forms.
- 3
Knead Dough
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface. Knead for about 5-7 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- 4
First Rise
Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 5
Shape Pretzel Sticks
After the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 8 equal portions. Roll each portion into a long rope (about 12 inches) and shape into sticks.
- 6
Boil in Baking Soda Solution
In a large pot, bring 10 cups of water to a boil and add the baking soda carefully. Boil each pretzel stick for about 30 seconds, then remove and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 7
Sprinkle with Coarse Salt
Sprinkle the boiled pretzel sticks with coarse sea salt.
- 8
Bake Pretzel Sticks
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Bake the pretzel sticks for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
Queso Cheese Sauce Preparation
- 9
Melt Cheese
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the cream cheese and milk. Stir until the cream cheese is melted and the mixture is smooth.
- 10
- 11
Serve Warm
Once the cheese sauce is smooth and creamy, remove from heat and serve warm with the pretzel sticks.
