Cake Base

Method

Cake Base Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Cream Butter and Sugar

In another bowl, cream the softened butter until smooth. Gradually add the sugar, mixing until light and fluffy.

  4. 4

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

  5. 5

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, and mix until just combined.

Flavoring the Cake

  1. 6

    Add Cocoa and Mix-ins

Divide the batter into two bowls. In one bowl, fold in the cocoa powder, and in the other bowl, gently stir in the chopped nuts and fresh berries.

Baking the Cake

  1. 7

    Pour and Bake

Pour the cocoa batter into one prepared cake pan and the nut/berry batter into the other. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  2. 8

    Cool the Cakes

Once baked, remove from the oven and allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Frosting Preparation

  1. 9

    Make the Frosting

In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing until well incorporated. Stir in the vanilla extract and milk until you reach a spreadable consistency.

Assembling the Cake

  1. 10

    Frost the Cakes

Once the cakes are completely cool, place the cocoa layer on a serving plate and spread a layer of frosting on top. Place the nut and berry layer on top of the frosted layer and frost the top and sides of the cake.

  2. 11

    Serve and Enjoy

Slice the cake and serve. Enjoy your delicious Staci Cake!
