Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Grits

In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Stir in the grits and a pinch of salt. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally until the grits are thick and creamy.

  2. 2

    Make the Shrimp Sauce

In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Add the shrimp and sprinkle with cajun seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the shrimp turn pink and are cooked through. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Cream Sauce

In the same skillet, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Once melted, pour in the heavy cream and stir to combine. Allow the sauce to simmer for about 5 minutes until it thickens slightly. Return the shrimp to the skillet and add chopped green onions, mixing well to combine. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.

  4. 4

    Serve

Once the grits are cooked, serve them in bowls and top with the shrimp and creamy sauce. Garnish with additional green onions if desired.
