Shrimp
Cocktail Sauce
Method
Prepare the Shrimp
- 1
Boil the Water
In a large pot, bring 8 cups of water to a rolling boil.
- 2
Add Salt
Once the water is boiling, add 2 tablespoons of salt to the water.
- 3
Cook the Shrimp
Add 1 pound of jumbo shrimp to the pot. Cook for about 2-3 minutes or until they turn pink and opaque.
- 4
Drain and Cool
Remove the shrimp from the pot and drain. Place them in an ice bath or run under cold water to stop the cooking process.
- 5
Chill
Once cooled, refrigerate the shrimp until ready to serve. Garnish with lemon slices before serving.
Make the Cocktail Sauce
- 6
Combine Ingredients
In a medium bowl, combine 1 cup of ketchup, 2 tablespoons of horseradish, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce, 2 teaspoons of hot sauce, and 1 teaspoon of black pepper.
- 7
Mix Well
Stir the mixture until all ingredients are well combined and the sauce is smooth.
- 8
Taste and Adjust
Taste the cocktail sauce and adjust the seasoning if needed, adding more horseradish or hot sauce for extra heat.
- 9
Chill the Sauce
Refrigerate the cocktail sauce for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
