Method

Meatball Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well combined.

  2. 2

    Form Meatballs

Using your hands, form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter. Place the meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  3. 3

    Chill

Cover the baking sheet with plastic wrap and refrigerate the meatballs for at least 30 minutes to firm up.

Sauce Preparation

  1. 4

    Sauté Aromatics

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

  2. 5

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Pour in the crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Stir well to combine and bring the sauce to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and let it cook for about 15 minutes.

Cooking Meatballs

  1. 6

    Cook Meatballs

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the chilled meatballs in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until they are cooked through.

  2. 7

    Combine with Sauce

Once the meatballs are cooked, add them to the simmering sauce in the skillet. Gently stir to coat the meatballs with the sauce and cook for an additional 5 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
