Shallot-Thyme Butter

Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Rub the flatiron steak with olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Make sure the steak is evenly coated.

  2. 2

    Grill the Steak

Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Place the steak on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness. Remove from the grill and let rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

Fries Preparation

  1. 3

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel the russet potatoes and cut them into thin strips to make fries.

  2. 4

    Soak the Potatoes

Soak the potato strips in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch. Drain and pat dry.

  3. 5

    Fry the Potatoes

In a large pot, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Carefully add the potato strips in batches and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with salt immediately.

Shallot-Thyme Butter Preparation

  1. 6

    Cook the Shallots

In a small saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Add finely diced shallots and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.

  2. 7

    Add Thyme and Season

Stir in fresh thyme leaves and salt. Cook for an additional minute until fragrant. Remove from heat.
