Preparation

  1. 1

    Muddle Blackberries and Mint

In a cocktail shaker, add the blackberries and fresh mint leaves. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently crush the blackberries and mint together to release their juices and flavors.

  2. 2

    Add Lemon Juice

Cut the lemon in half and squeeze the juice from one half into the shaker. You can adjust the amount of lemon juice based on your taste preference.

  3. 3

    Add Bourbon and Simple Syrup

Pour in the bourbon and add the simple syrup to the shaker. The simple syrup adds sweetness to balance the tartness of the blackberries and lemon.

  4. 4

    Shake

Fill the shaker with ice, cover it, and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds to chill and mix the ingredients well.

Serving

  1. 5

    Strain and Pour

Strain the mixture into a glass filled with ice. Use a fine mesh strainer if you prefer a smoother drink without bits of fruit.

  2. 6

    Top with Club Soda

Top the drink with club soda for a refreshing fizz. Adjust the amount according to your taste preference.

  3. 7

    Garnish

Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint on top. Optionally, you can add a few whole blackberries for decoration.

  4. 8

    Serve

Serve immediately and enjoy your Blackberry Bourbon Smash!
