Candy Base

Lollipop Sticks

Coating (optional)

Method

Making the Candy Base

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Gather all the ingredients listed for the candy base.

  2. 2

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium saucepan, combine 2 cups of granulated sugar, 1 cup of light corn syrup, and 1 cup of water.

  3. 3

    Heat the Mixture

Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir the mixture until the sugar is completely dissolved.

  4. 4

    Boil the Mixture

Once the sugar is dissolved, stop stirring and allow the mixture to boil until it reaches a temperature of 300°F (hard crack stage). This should take about 10-15 minutes.

  5. 5

    Add Flavoring and Color

Once the mixture reaches the desired temperature, remove it from heat. If desired, add food coloring and flavoring extract of your choice. Stir quickly to incorporate.

Forming the Lollipops

  1. 6

    Prepare the Lollipop Sticks

While the candy base cools slightly, prepare your lollipop sticks by placing them in a lollipop mold or securing them upright in a foam block.

  2. 7

    Pour the Candy Mixture

Carefully pour the hot candy mixture into each mold or over the sticks, filling them to the top.

  3. 8

    Cool the Lollipops

Allow the lollipops to cool at room temperature until they harden, which should take about 30 minutes.

Coating (optional)

  1. 9

    Melt Chocolate

If using a coating, melt 1 cup of chocolate chips in a microwave or double boiler until smooth.

  2. 10

    Coat the Lollipops

Once the lollipops are completely cool, dip them in the melted chocolate and then roll in sprinkles if desired. Place them on parchment paper to set.
