Method

Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until smooth.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

  5. 5

    Add Boiling Water

Slowly stir in the boiling water to the batter. The batter will be thin, but this is normal.

  6. 6

    Bake the Cake

Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  7. 7

    Cool the Cakes

Once baked, remove from the oven and let the cakes cool in the pans for about 10 minutes. Then, transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Frosting Preparation

  1. 8

    Make the Frosting

In a medium bowl, beat the unsalted butter until creamy. Gradually add the cocoa powder and powdered sugar, alternating with the whole milk, and beat until smooth and fluffy. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  2. 9

    Frost the Cake

Once the cakes are completely cool, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a generous amount of frosting on top, then place the second layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake.

  3. 10

    Serve

Slice the cake and serve it to your guests. Enjoy your moist and super chocolatey Devil's Food Cake!
