Cake Preparation
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
- 3
- 4
Combine Mixtures
Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing well. Finally, add the boiling water and mix until smooth. The batter will be thin.
- 5
Bake the Cakes
Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- 6
Cool the Cakes
Once baked, remove the cakes from the oven and allow them to cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, remove from the pans and cool completely on wire racks.
Ganache Preparation
- 7
Heat the Cream
In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer.
- 8
Combine with Chocolate
Remove the saucepan from heat and add the semi-sweet chocolate chips. Let it sit for 5 minutes to melt the chocolate.
- 9
Stir Until Smooth
Whisk the mixture until smooth and glossy. Allow it to cool slightly before using.
Assembly
- 10
Assemble the Cake
Once the cakes are completely cool, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of ganache on top. Place the second layer on top and pour the remaining ganache over the cake, allowing it to drip down the sides.
- 11
Serve
Slice the cake and serve it at room temperature. Enjoy your rich chocolate cake!
