Filling Preparation
- 1
Prepare the apples
Peel, core, and slice the Granny Smith apples into thin wedges. You should have about 4 cups of sliced apples.
- 2
Mix the filling ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Toss well to coat the apples evenly. Set aside to let the flavors meld.
Topping Preparation
- 3
Combine the topping ingredients
In another bowl, mix together the oats, brown sugar, all-purpose flour, and salt. Melt the butter and pour it into the dry mixture. Stir until the mixture is crumbly and well combined.
Assembly and Baking
- 4
Assemble the crisp
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a baking dish, spread the apple filling evenly across the bottom. Sprinkle the oat topping generously over the apples.
- 5
Bake the crisp
Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.
- 6
Serve warm
Remove the crisp from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
