Veggie Patty

Method

Preparing the Veggie Patty

  1. 1

    Mash the Beans

In a large mixing bowl, mash the canned black beans with a fork or a potato masher until mostly smooth, leaving some chunks for texture.

  2. 2

    Mix Ingredients

Add cooked quinoa, bread crumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, cumin, salt, and black pepper to the mashed beans. Mix until well combined.

  3. 3

    Form Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty.

  4. 4

    Cook the Patties

In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.

Making the Garlic Aioli

  1. 5

    Combine Ingredients

In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, minced garlic, lemon juice, and salt until smooth and creamy.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 6

    Toast the Buns

Lightly toast the burger buns on a skillet or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 7

    Add Cheese

Place the cooked veggie patty on the bottom half of each bun and top with a slice of jalapeno pepper jack cheese. Allow the cheese to melt slightly.

  3. 8

    Add Toppings

Top the patty with sliced avocado, lettuce leaves, and tomato slices.

  4. 9

    Spread Aioli

Spread a generous amount of garlic aioli on the top half of the bun and place it on top of the assembled burger.

  5. 10

    Serve

Serve the vegetarian burgers warm with your favorite side dish.
