Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Seasoning the Steak

Sprinkle both sides of the rib eye steak evenly with kosher salt and black pepper. Let the steak sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to allow the seasoning to penetrate.

  2. 2

    Preparing the Garlic and Rosemary

Peel and gently crush the garlic cloves. Rinse the fresh rosemary and set aside.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Heating the Pan

In a large skillet or cast-iron pan, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering but not smoking.

  2. 4

    Cooking the Steak

Carefully place the rib eye steak in the hot pan. Sear for about 4-5 minutes on one side until a golden-brown crust forms.

  3. 5

    Flipping the Steak

Flip the steak over and add the crushed garlic and rosemary to the pan. Continue to cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare doneness, or adjust the time according to your preferred level of doneness.

  4. 6

    Basting the Steak

As the steak cooks, use a spoon to baste the steak with the olive oil, garlic, and rosemary in the pan. This will enhance the flavor.

  5. 7

    Resting the Steak

Remove the steak from the pan and transfer it to a cutting board. Let it rest for at least 5 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.

Serving

  1. 8

    Slicing and Serving

Slice the rib eye against the grain into thick slices and serve immediately. Enjoy your perfectly cooked rib eye steak!
