Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Remove the ribeye steak from the refrigerator and allow it to come to room temperature for about 30 minutes. Pat it dry with paper towels.

  2. 2

    Apply Seasoning

Sprinkle the kosher salt, black pepper, and garlic powder evenly on both sides of the steak. Rub the seasoning into the meat gently.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Preheat the Pan

Heat a cast-iron skillet or heavy pan over medium-high heat. Add the olive oil and let it heat until shimmering.

  2. 4

    Sear the Steak

Carefully place the ribeye steak in the hot pan. Sear for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it.

  3. 5

    Flip the Steak

Using tongs, flip the steak to the other side. Cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, or until your desired doneness is achieved.

  4. 6

    Add Butter and Herbs (Optional)

In the last minute of cooking, add butter, rosemary, and thyme to the pan. Spoon the melted butter over the steak for added flavor.

Resting

  1. 7

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the skillet and place it on a cutting board. Let it rest for at least 5-10 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute.

Serving

  1. 8

    Slice and Serve

After resting, slice the ribeye against the grain and serve immediately. Enjoy your perfectly cooked ribeye steak!
