Method

Cooking the Steak

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Remove the 12 oz New York Strip Steak from the refrigerator and let it rest at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This helps to ensure even cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Rub the steak with olive oil, then season generously with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and rosemary on both sides.

  3. 3

    Cook the Steak

Heat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the steak and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until the desired doneness is reached.

  4. 4

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.

Grilling the Vegetables

  1. 5

    Prepare the Vegetables

Slice the bell peppers, zucchini, and red onion into equal-sized pieces for even cooking.

  2. 6

    Season the Vegetables

In a bowl, toss the vegetables with olive oil, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.

  3. 7

    Grill the Vegetables

Place the seasoned vegetables on the grill alongside the steak for the last 5-7 minutes of cooking, turning occasionally until tender and slightly charred.

Making Mashed Potatoes or Rice

  1. 8

    Prepare Mashed Potatoes

Peel and chop the potatoes into even chunks. Boil them in salted water until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 9

    Mash the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add butter, milk, and salt to taste. Mash until smooth and creamy.

  3. 10

    Prepare Rice (alternative option)

In a pot, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Add 1 cup of rice and a pinch of salt, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 18-20 minutes, or until rice is tender and water is absorbed.
