Method
Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Sprinkle yeast over the top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
Mix Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center, pour in the olive oil and the activated yeast mixture.
- 3
Knead Dough
Mix until a dough forms, then turn it onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
Let Dough Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Assembly and Baking
- 5
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.
- 6
Shape Dough
Once dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness. If using gluten-free crust, follow package instructions.
- 7
Add Sauce and Toppings
Spread pizza sauce evenly over the rolled-out dough. Tear fresh mozzarella and distribute it evenly over the sauce. Add fresh basil leaves to taste.
- 8
Bake Pizza
Transfer the pizza onto a baking sheet or preheated stone. Bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- 9
Finish and Serve
Drizzle the pizza with olive oil, slice, and enjoy! Optionally, serve with extra fresh basil on top.
