Method

Preparing the Burger Patties

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties, about 3/4 inch thick.

Cooking the Mushrooms

  1. 3

    Sauté Mushrooms

In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the sliced mushrooms and minced garlic. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the mushrooms are tender and golden brown. Remove from heat and set aside.

Cooking the Burgers

  1. 4

    Grill or Pan-Fry Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the burger patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.

  2. 5

    Add Cheese

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty and cover to melt.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 6

    Prepare Buns

Toast the burger buns lightly on the grill or in the skillet.

  2. 7

    Build Your Burger

Layer the bottom half of each bun with lettuce, followed by the cooked burger patty with melted cheese, sautéed mushrooms, a slice of tomato, and onion. Add ketchup and mustard to taste, then top with the other half of the bun.
