Preparation

Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- 2
Making the Cake Batter
- 3
Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a medium heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Melt together over a double boiler or in the microwave in 30-second intervals until smooth. Stir occasionally.
- 4
Mix Sugar and Eggs
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, eggs, and egg yolks until well combined and slightly frothy.
- 5
Combine Mixtures
Slowly pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, whisking continuously until fully incorporated.
- 6
Add Dry Ingredients
Sift the all-purpose flour and a pinch of salt into the chocolate-egg mixture. Add vanilla extract and fold gently until just combined. Do not overmix.
Baking the Cakes
- 7
Fill Ramekins
Divide the batter equally among the prepared ramekins, filling each about 3/4 full.
- 8
Bake
Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is soft.
- 9
Cool Slightly
Remove from the oven and let the cakes sit for 1 minute before inverting onto plates.
Serving
- 10
Add Ice Cream
Top each molten chocolate cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
- 11
Drizzle Chocolate Sauce
Drizzle chocolate sauce over the ice cream and serve immediately while the cake is still warm.
