Cake Preparation

Melt Chocolate and Butter
Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F). In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Melt them together over a pot of simmering water, stirring occasionally until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Mix Sugar and Eggs
In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and large eggs until the mixture is pale and slightly thickened.

Add Dry Ingredients
Sift the all-purpose flour and salt into the chocolate mixture. Add the vanilla extract, and fold gently until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

Fill Ramekins
Evenly distribute the batter into the prepared ramekins, filling each about 3/4 full.

Bake
Place the ramekins on a baking tray and bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the center remains soft.

Rest and Serve
Remove from the oven and let the cakes rest for 1 minute. Carefully invert them onto serving plates.

Top each molten chocolate cake with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Drizzle warm chocolate sauce over the top of the ice cream and cake.
