Method

Cocktail Preparation

  1. 1

    Muddle the Mint and Sugar

In a sturdy glass, add the fresh mint leaves and granulated sugar. Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, gently press down on the mint leaves to release their oils and mix them with the sugar. Be careful not to tear the mint leaves into tiny pieces.

  2. 2

    Add Lime Juice

Cut the lime in half and squeeze the juice from both halves into the glass. You can also drop one half of the lime into the glass for added flavor. Stir the mixture to combine the mint, sugar, and lime juice.

  3. 3

    Add the Rum

Pour the white rum into the glass over the muddled mint and lime mixture. Stir well to combine all the flavors.

  4. 4

    Add Ice

Fill the glass with ice cubes, packing them in well to keep the drink nice and cold.

  5. 5

    Top with Soda Water

Pour the soda water over the ice until the glass is full. Give the drink a gentle stir to combine everything without disturbing the mint leaves too much.

  6. 6

    Garnish and Serve

Garnish your mojito with a sprig of fresh mint and a slice of lime on the rim of the glass. Serve immediately with a straw and enjoy your refreshing cocktail!
