Method

Base Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together until evenly mixed.

  2. 2

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until fully combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

  4. 4

    Prepare Baking Dish

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking dish.

  5. 5

    Bake

Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  6. 6

    Cool

Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Frosting Preparation

  1. 7

    Beat the Butter

In a medium bowl, beat the unsalted butter with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy.

  2. 8

    Add Dry Ingredients

Gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder to the butter, mixing on low speed until combined.

  3. 9

    Add Milk and Vanilla

Add the milk and vanilla extract to the mixture. Beat on medium speed until the frosting is light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

  4. 10

    Frost the Cake

Once the cake is completely cool, spread the frosting evenly over the top using a spatula.
